Senior Mortgage Sales Trainer

Position Overview:

The Senior Mortgage Sales Trainer is responsible for developing, delivering, and continuously improving sales and licensing-related training programs for mortgage professionals. This role supports the onboarding, development, and performance of Associate Bankers, Loan Officers (LOs), and Licensed Loan Officers by providing sales-focused training, SAFE Act education, and ongoing coaching. The Senior Mortgage Sales Trainer partners closely with sales leadership and the current SAFE trainer to ensure consistent, compliant, and high-impact training across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead onboarding and ongoing training for Associate Bankers, Loan Officers, and Licensed Loan Officers.
  • Facilitate onboarding and continuous development programs for new and existing mortgage sales representatives.
  • Develop and deliver engaging training sessions on mortgage products, sales techniques, market trends, compliance, and customer service.
  • Lead group workshops, role-playing exercises, and one-on-one coaching sessions.
  • Ensure all sales training aligns with federal and state compliance requirements, including SAFE Act, TRID, RESPA, ECOA, and Fair Lending.
  • Coach new hires through ramp-up periods to ensure readiness for production and licensing milestones.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, sales playbooks, onboarding guides, and job aids.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support to sales staff to improve their sales techniques and product knowledge.
  • Assess training needs and identify skill gaps within the sales team.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness using performance metrics, licensing progress, and feedback.
  • Support rollout of new products, programs, and sales initiatives.
  • Collaborate with sales managers and leadership to align training with business goals and sales targets.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource to sales leaders and loan officers, reinforcing best practices and a high-performance sales culture.

Qualifications

  • SAFE certified (preferred) or willingness to complete training to teach SAFE Act curriculum.
  • 3-5+ years of mortgage industry experience with a strong background in loan officer sales and production.
  • Experience onboarding and training mortgage professionals, including entry-level and licensed roles.
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage products, sales strategies, and regulatory requirements impacting loan originators.
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, and coaching skills.
  • Ability to engage learners at multiple experience levels and adapt training accordingly.
  • Proficiency with loan origination systems (e.g., Encompass, LendingPad, Calyx) and related sales tools.

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience teaching SAFE Act education or licensing courses.
  • Previous top-producing Loan Officer or sales leadership experience.
  • Experience building structured onboarding programs for Associate Bankers or junior LOs.
